During this period, the forest is not too muddy, which is very important because Udzungwa is mainly a hiking and rainforest park. Trails like the famous hike to Sanje Waterfalls become much easier to climb, and you can enjoy the journey without heavy rain making paths slippery or difficult.
The weather is also more comfortable for trekking. You get cooler mornings and clearer skies, which make the mountain views more visible and the forest atmosphere more pleasant. This is also the best time for photography because sunlight filters beautifully through the rainforest, creating strong natural colors and dramatic waterfall views.

Hiking and Trekking
This is the most popular activity in Udzungwa. The park is famous for its forested mountains and trails that take you deep into nature.
You walk through tropical rainforest, bamboo zones, and mountain slopes while enjoying fresh air and peaceful surroundings. It feels more like an adventure hike than a normal safari because you are constantly inside dense natural forest.
Sanje Waterfalls Hike
This is the highlight of the park. The trail leads you to one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Tanzania, dropping in multiple tiers down the mountains.
The hike itself is rewarding because you pass through lush forest, and when you reach the top, you get stunning views of the valley below and sometimes even the Kilombero sugar plantations in the distance.

Udzungwa is often called the “Galapagos of Africa” because of its unique primates.
