6 Days Kilimanjaro Climb Via Marangu Route

Marangu-Route

Overview

The Marangu Route is the most popular route, also known as the “Coca Cola” or “Tourist” route as it is considered the easiest route to the summit, and it is generally less physically demanding. 70% of all climbers choose this route, because most of it consists easy hiking.

However, the final part of the route is still a difficult challenge to overcome. It also has a huge failure rate due to lack of preparation and underestimating it. We strongly advise climbers who wish to climb via this route to take just as seriously as the other routes and prepare themselves physically and mentally before taking this route head on.

This is also the only route that offers accommodation in huts at every point you spend your night with solar lights and comfortable beds. Bathrooms and running water are available at the two lower huts.

All the camps on this route sale goods such as chocolates, beer, soft drinks and mineral water, and they all have a radio contact to the Park Office. This route can be done in 5 days but it is advised to take an extra day for acclimatization at the Horombo Hut. We offer this route in 5 and 6 days

You will be picked up from the airport (Kilimanjaro International Airport/ Arusha Airport) and be transferred to your hotel in the town of your choice where you will rest and have a short pre-climb briefing from your Guide who will as well check your gears.

Elevation: 1,980m – 2,700m

We leave your hotel very early in the morning for a short drive to Marangu gate. Your guide will assist you with the registration procedures and check necessary formalities at the gate. We then start the climb through a fascinating tropical rain forest. We can see a number of trees, flowers and small mammals on this day (Blue Monkeys, Tree Hyraxes and Monkeys). After the hike we reach the first camp, Mandara hut for dinner and overnight.

Today’s ascent is gentle but long. We arrive at Horombo Hut mid-afternoon, where you can relax and enjoy stunning sceneries around the camp.

We will rest there for a few minutes to enjoy the sunrise over Mawenzi. From here we then continue slowly to make the three hours round trip along the crater rim to Uhuru peak 5,895m. Which is the highest point in Africa.  Congratulations, you are now at Uhuru peak!

After some minutes at the peak the descent to Kibo Hut is amazingly fast, and we stop at Kibo Hut where the porters will be happily waiting for us with a hot meal and refreshments. We then descend until Horombo Hut to spend the night. 5,895m, the highest point in Africa.  Congratulations, you are now at Uhuru peak! After some minutes at the peak the descent to Kibo Hut is amazingly fast, and we stop at Kibo Hut where the porters will be happily waiting
